A hammock in the middle of the room, underneath which a path of stones makes its way, merging somewhere into a path of wicker mats. Tufted works that fit inseparably into the space; they grow out of it. They are borderline objects, because they are both objects of contemplation and of touch. Their color spectrum stages antagonisms that are endurable and beautiful at the same time. Holograms break the space of the real and expand the body and its movements into the immaterial. In the performance, the elements interweave to form a temporary whole.
The work understands nature and man as part of a shared network of sensations and a knowledge of what is and always has been and which exists beyond purely rational standards. By discarding socially entrenched notions of 'nature', a magical relationship opens up. One of reciprocity, which at the same time recognizes that nature is not subordinate, but precedes us, outlasts us; and is the condition of our existence.
Lili Ullrich is an interdisciplinary artist who works with performance, video, installation and sculpture. In her works, she deals with levels of consciousness that have a reciprocal effect, are mutually dependent and produce each other. The body, the subconscious, natural forms of life and the question of the 'I' are elementary points of reference.
