The Kunsthochschule closes between the years

Once again this year, the Kunsthochschule Kassel (KhK) and the University of Kassel and their facilities will close over Christmas and the turn of the year. The last day of opening is 23.12.2025, KhK and University will be open again from 05.01.2026.

Courses will start again on 12.01.2026. During the closure period, the security service will be on site to monitor the locations; the IT Service Center will ensure digital security.

University Library
All University Library locations are closed over the Christmas holidays and New Year. The last opening day this year at all locations is Tuesday, 23.12.2025. The library at the Kunsthochschule location will be open on 23.12.2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Further information on the opening hours of the locations can be found here.

In the new year, the University Library will reopen on 05.01.2026. Restricted opening hours apply up to and including 09.01.2026. For the Kunsthochschule location, the following opening hours apply during this period: 10:00 to 16:00. From 12.01.2026, the library locations will be open again at regular times.

Studierendenwerk
The Studierendenwerk Kassel is also taking a break.

Counseling areas, housing and administration
From 23.12.2025 to 03.01.2026 all contact and counseling centers of the Studierendenwerk are closed. Regular opening hours will apply from 05.01.2026.

Mensas, cafeterias and Moritz
The last day of opening is 18.12.2025. From 19.12.2025 to 03.01.2026, all catering facilities will remain closed. Open from 05.01.2026: Central Canteen, LernBar, Pavilion, Heinrich-Plett-Straße Canteen, Canteen 71, Wilhelmshöher Allee Campus, Steinstraße Canteen, Witzenhausen.

From 12.01.2026, the regular opening hours will apply again everywhere.

Daycare centers
HoPla-Kinderhaus: Last opening day is 18.12.2025, reopened from 05.01.2026. Die Frechdachse and studykidscare: Last opening day is 19.12.2025, reopened from 05.01.2026.
