10 years of GRIMMWELT & 20 years of UNESCO World Documentary Heritage

Six animated films to mark the double anniversary of GRIMMWELT.

How can the timeless fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and the special atmosphere of the exhibition house be viewed from new perspectives? What is still to be discovered after 10 years of GRIMMWELT and what lies ahead? To mark the anniversary year of the GRIMMWELT, a unique cooperation project has been created with students from the animation class at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. In cinematic works, the students reinterpreted the magic and meaning of the Grimm fairy tales and explored the iconic architecture of the house and its characteristics.

The artistic-experimental, playful project began last year. The students spent an intensive day at the GRIMMWELT in January. Within nine hours, numerous film recordings, photographs and initial ideas were created. This research resulted in six unique short films, which can be viewed here and on the GRIMMWELT YouTube channel. From June 01, 2025, the short films will also be shown in the permanent exhibition.

With films by: Lilian Gremmer, Stella Hood, Seymoure Konneman, Gülberk Elif Bosgelmez, Malin Gutschank, Luna Hirt and Stefan Kreller.

The project was supervised by Prof. Martina Bramkamp and Franka Sachse (animation class at the Kunsthochschule Kassel). The cooperation was supported by the Museumsverband Hessen e. V.
