K-BOB STAR wins the prestigious MuVi award

Hansol Kim (Virtual Realities class, Kunsthochschule Kassel) wins the prestigious 27th MuVi Award at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen for her clip K-BOB STAR.

The MuVi Prize, which is awarded for the best German music video, was presented on May 3, 2025 as part of the 71st International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in Oberhausen. The first prize went to the film "K-Bob Star" by Hansol Kim to the music of Cardi B, the prize is endowed with 2,000 euros.

Jury statement In K-BOB STAR (Germany/South Korea 2024, 3'01'', color), Hansol Kim examines the intersections of generations, the role of women in the K-pop industry and care work in a precise yet playful way. By working with several generations of women, especially her grandmother, she creates a cross-generational narrative that subtly undermines common notions of age and gender. With a reduced, pointed combination of video and text as well as ironic references - for example to kimchi as a cultural signifier - Kim questions issues of appropriation and cultural identity. The result is a fresh, headstrong work that opens up new visual spaces of female emancipation with aesthetic strangeness and performative eccentricity.
