You will study art as one of your two teaching subjects for the teaching profession at Hauptschulen and Realschulen. The course lasts nine semesters and takes place in the subject of art at the Kunsthochschule. The course concludes with the First State Examination.
The focus is on an in-depth examination of aesthetic practice. To this end, you will have access to a wide range of art education courses and numerous study workshops, including in the areas of printing, textiles, wood, ceramics, books and paper.
Through your own artistic practice, you will acquire a wide range of forms of expression and techniques that are particularly relevant for teaching art in lower secondary schools. Subject-specific content is taught both in art education courses and supplemented by art science fundamentals.
The prerequisite for admission to the course is a successful entrance examination for the teaching profession at Hauptschulen and Realschulen. The application deadline is April 30 of each year.
