Semester and course periods normally differ from one another. The course period is the period in which the courses are offered – although projects and field trips, for example, may also take place outside the course period. The winter semester course period normally lasts from mid-October to mid-February, that of the summer semester from mid-April to mid-July.
For students on art degree programmes, the course periods are less important in more advanced semesters, as their working times increasingly focus on individual projects.
