Young talent project funding for Thanh-Giang Nguyen
Hessen Film & Medien is supporting "The Fever" (20,000 euros) by Thanh-Giang Nguyen as a newcomer project. In his film, the filmmaker tells the story of a man who returns to his native Vietnam after a long time and feels alienated.
"The Fever" (length: 19 min.) is a short film that tells the surreal and strange story of a YOUNG MAN who returns to his homeland after living abroad for many years. He visited relatives while a fever was secretly spreading in the city. The film depicts the urbanization process in Vietnam, the wave of cultural migration and the author's personal experiences. The leading role in the project is played by Pham Thanh Hai, who starred in the film Viet & Nam by director Truong Minh Quy, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024.
Nguyen has been studying Film and Moving Image with Prof. Jan Peters (Kunsthochschule Kassel) since 2020. He plans to complete his project "The Fever" this year.
