On the Schnupperstudium at the Kunsthochschule
From January 20–24 the Schnupperstudium provides young students the opportunity to get a taste of what it’s like to study at the Kunsthochschule.
During this week, those interested in studying in Kassel, Hofgeismar, Homberg/Efze, and Bad Wildungen can find out more about the topic of studying in general and get a concrete glimpse into the wide range of opportunities on offer to study at the Kunsthochschule.
Be a university student for a week, take a look into lectures at the program you’re interested in, visit seminars, and get in contact with teachers and students: the Schnupperstudium makes all of this possible for 30 prospective students of the Kunsthochschule. The departments of Art Education, Art History and Aesthetics, and Product Design offer a wide ranging program with courses, lectures, and tours through the study workshops as well as the campus. By participating in selected regular events the orientation week not only provides information about what is on offer at the Kunsthochschule, but can also help in avoiding making the wrong choices when selected a study program.
For instance, 19 young people interested in studying at the Kunsthochschule visit the department of Product Design for four days. The program in the department is coordinated by Sandra Spoo (artistic associate) and Charlotte Kreiß (student). The Schnupperstudium is meant to help those interested in studying here to get a glimpse into student life. Among the questions that will be answered are: What area of study might be the right one for me? What can I expect in the program? What can I do in the study workshops? What does campus life look like?
Felix Reiche is a student in the 12th class at the Herderschule Kassel. He is taking part in the Schnupperstudium because he is interested in studying design. Carlotta Leonhardt from the Gustav-Stresemann-Gymnasium, Bad Wildungen has similar motives. She is actually interested in architecture, but she also wanted to find out about other practice-oriented fields.
About the Schnupperstudium
Nils Heise (University of Kassel) organizes the Schnupperstudium every year together with teachers from the schools cooperating in the program with the university. During the Schnupperstudium those interested in studying here can visit selected courses or lectures in a department for one whole week. Each department individually organizes the program and there is no overall timetable. In 2025 the Schnupperstudium is taking place from January 20-24. Further information can be found here.
