"Fluid" is open!

The exhibition "Fluid" - Media, AI, Art and Design was opened on Friday afternoon, May 9, 2025, in the exhibition hall of the Kunsthochschule Kassel. Rebecca Krämer, Head of Cultural Digitization at the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture (HMWK), gave a welcoming speech at the opening of the exhibition on behalf of the Hessian Minister of State Timon Gremmels. The interdisciplinary exhibition was developed as part of the "Digital Perspectives in Art" funding program. The cooperation program of the universities HfG Offenbach, HfMDK Frankfurt, Kunsthochschule Kassel and Städelschule Frankfurt is funded by the HMWK. In his welcoming address, Professor Martin Schmidl, Rector of the Kunsthochschule Kassel, thanked the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture for sponsoring the exhibition. A special highlight of the opening was the concert with current works by composition students of the HfMDK Frankfurt for paper pipe organ with an instrumental trio, the Trio Radial: Shelly Ezra (clarinets), Deepa Goonetilleke (horn), Esther Saladin (violoncello).

"Fluid" shows artistic works at the interface of media, artificial intelligence, art and design. It brings together different positions from artists such as the group Crosslucid, a collective around Michael Wallinger, with the installation "Iterative Body Synthesis" as well as works by artists from the Hessian cooperation universities. Works will be presented that understand digital media as a dynamic development landscape, such as projects that deal with digital media art - from AI-generated images to media-theoretical installations or programmatic media criticism to algorithmic composition.

The students Eleonora Dieterichs, Till Ihrig, Matti Kahlke, Annkathrin Kluss, Lukas Langhein, Daniel Núñez, Jie Qian (Jessica), Robin Röcker, Oliver Scharf, Andric Späth (NewArt.City workshop), Chen Zirui (RAY) from the Kunsthochschule Kassel are participating in the exhibition.

"Fluid" - Media, AI, Art and Design was curated by Prof. Joel Baumann, Prof. Oliver Vogt and Eleonora Dieterichs (Kunsthochschule Kassel). The team was supported by Prof. Orm Finnendahl (HfMDK Frankfurt), Christian Frisch (Städelschule Frankfurt) and Prof. Alex Oppermann (HfG Offenbach).

The cooperative exhibition is open until May 31, 2025 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 pm to 7 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 pm to 7 pm. You can find the dates for public guided tours of the exhibition here. Further information on the program here.
