Proof of language skills for acceptance to study at the Kunsthochschule Kassel

Product design
Prior to taking the artistic entrance examination you must submit proof of German language skills at level B2.

The following certificates are accepted for level B2:

Visual Arts and Visual Communication
For the application process, the artistic entrance examination, and enrollment in the first semester of the program, a German level of B1 is sufficient. In this case, however, proof of B2 level (see Product Design) must be submitted while studying, at the latest for acceptance to the intermediate examination.

The following German language certificates are accepted for Level B1:

  • Goethe Certificate: level B1
  • telc deutsch: level B1
  • DSD I or DSD I PRO: at least B1 in all sub-areas
  • Certification through a successfully completed German course at the B1 level, together with proof of a total of 600 hours of German lessons
  • At least 2 years of course work in German Studies
  • Deutschtest für Zuwanderer: B1 in all areas

For these two programs, application for further studies or when applying for study as a “Meisterschüler” requires proof of German language skills at level B2 (see Product Design) or proof of English language skills at level B2.

Art History and Aesthetics and Art Education
Proof of a higher level of German language skills must be provided, which is also required for all other programs at the University of Kassel.

In Art History and Aesthetics an additional certificate is required for English at level B1.
