Award for Áron Farkas at the Hessian Film and Cinema Prize 2025
The film "Magic Gulyás" by Áron Farkas, graduate of the Animation class (Kunsthochschule Kassel), was awarded Best Graduation Film at the Hessian Film and Cinema Award 2025. The award was presented on October 17, 2025 during a festive award ceremony at the Alte Oper Frankfurt.
Jury statement:
A fascinating animated film that develops its very own aesthetic, somewhere between puppet animation and computer-generated images, between punk and village idyll. The story of two outsiders who regularly meet up on a small hill to drink beer is also a story of growing up that manages without any dialog. The images create their own reality, they stand on their heads, pose riddles again and again and thus invite repeated viewings.
The Hessian Film and Cinema Prize has been awarded annually since 1990 by the state of Hesse as a sponsorship prize and award for filmmakers and cinema operators.
