Simply make real coal...think carbon in the cycle

What is actually behind biochar and why does it play a key role in a sustainable future?

Biochar is much more than just "burning biomass", it is at the heart of a sustainable, circular carbon economy. In this introductory workshop, participants will learn what the Circular Carbon Economy means and what role biochar plays in it.

After a brief introduction to the basics, participants will learn how biochar is produced, what properties it has and why it offers enormous potential for agriculture, the environment and the economy. Then it gets practical: biochar can be experienced at various experimental stations.

Whether in the methyl blue experiment, which makes the filter effect of biochar visible, experimenting with the pyrolysis stove or examining biochar samples, the focus is on trying out and discovering.

The workshop is aimed at all interested parties, regardless of previous knowledge. Researchers, students, practitioners, local authority representatives, the curious... all are equally welcome. The aim is to understand together how biochar can be used as a sustainable raw material and what role it plays in a sustainable carbon cycle.
