Filmmaker Melissa Dullius from the DISTRUKTUR duo will be our guest for a workshop with analog 16 mm film material entitled KAMERAFREI.
About the workshop
Using direct animation techniques and materials such as colorful adhesive tape, stickers, paint, chlorine, nail polish, markers, hole punches, motif punches, cutters and scissors, we will design and modify 16 mm film strips. We can use our own material as a basis: incorrectly exposed or unpopular shots as well as found films and imageless, monochrome light or dark 16 mm films. Based on examples and materials, we will glue, perforate, punch, scratch, paint, draw, bleach, wet, burn, emboss and project film strips as individual loops or as a series of independent film sequences.
Filmstrips, magnifying glass, projector and materials will be available for all participants. Bringing your own is encouraged, but not mandatory.
Melissa Dullius is an artist, filmmaker and lecturer. She began her work as a self-taught artist in Brazil at the turn of the millennium and has lived in Berlin since 2006. She is a founding member of LaborBerlin e. V. and half of Distruktur.
