Profis Plaudern Praxis XVII

With this year's theme "Diversity in Focus: Paths to a Diverse Film Culture", we would like to shed light on the challenges and opportunities of diversity in film and media production, in film content and in its screening.

Diversity encompasses various aspects such as ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, abilities and cultural backgrounds. A diverse film industry and culture can help to tell stories that better reflect the reality of society. Promoting diversity leads to underrepresented groups gaining more visibility and opportunities - both in front of and behind the camera. This often results in more innovative and credible narratives that enrich audiences. Presenting such works to the public can help to break down stereotypes, broaden audiences and create a more inclusive film experience. Unfortunately, however, there are many challenges that need to be overcome in order to create a truly inclusive and diverse film culture, as actors who are committed to diversity face numerous individual and structural obstacles.

Four short presentations by this year's experts will open up different perspectives on diversity in film production and film culture. The subsequent moderated panel discussion serves to contextualize and discuss the presentations. In the one-on-one discussions - on site at the Medienbildungszentrum Nord in the KulturBahnhof Kassel or optionally via Zoom - there is the opportunity to receive advice from the experts for your own projects and to address individual questions after pre-registration (please register by 20.11.25 by e-mail to bell[at]kasselerdokfest.de).

The PPP offer is primarily aimed at students from the hFMA network and participants of the 16th Hessian University Film Day, but is open to all interested parties.

Profis Plaudern Praxis (PPP)
The Profis Plaudern Praxis (PPP) series has been organized in cooperation with the Hessian Film and Media Academy (hFMA) since 2010. It is part of the DokfestEducation section of the Kassel Dokfest, which sees itself as a platform for the further education of film and media professionals. At PPP, professionals from the fields of production, directing, consulting and exploitation support up-and-coming film talents in finding the right approach to their artistic project within the framework of an annually changing theme.
