The B.A. in Art History and Aesthetics at Kassel is an undergraduate study programme that imparts the entire breadth and depth of art-historical knowledge from the Middle Ages through to the present day. The academic foundations include both traditional methods of art history and aesthetics and all more recent issues and analysis forms. It covers the classical genres of architecture, plastics, painting and graphics as well as modern artistic forms of expression (e.g. assemblage, photography, film, performance, installation/environment). In the further course of study, students can focus on an individually selected specialization, for example in the area of contemporary art. Students acquire not only a solid foundation in art-historical knowledge, but also expertise in using methods of scholarly practice. The B.A. degree as an initial professional qualification thus also opens up access to a subsequent Master's degree.
