This year, the Kassel Dokfest once again invites you to discover the diversity of international documentary filmmaking as well as regional film events. From November 18 to 23, 2025, Kassel's arthouse cinemas will be transformed into a lively meeting place for film lovers and media professionals from all over the world - a place for encounters, inspiration and creativity. Over 200 current cinematic works - from short and long documentaries to artistic-experimental productions - will be shown in the various sections Feature Film, Short Film, Dokfest Generation, which is dedicated to older audiences, and the Young Dokfest section, which is primarily but not exclusively aimed at a young audience. In addition to films and works from all over the world, the Golden Hercules section focuses on North Hessian works of all genres and lengths.
The Kassel Dokfest takes place in hybrid form. The on-site program will be supplemented by an online offering: from 19 to 30 November 2025, 146 films will be available online for seven days after their screening in the cinema.
Kunsthochschule Kassel - Contributions to the Kassel Dokfest
As part of the 42nd Kassel Documentary Film & Video Festival, students and graduates of the Kunsthochschule Kassel (KHK) will present an impressive selection of cinematic works - from documentary essays and experimental short films to media-artistic observations of our digital world.
