A different kind of mushroom hunt: forest walks with a focus on natural cycles

On the trail of the natural cycle: join us on a walk through the forest to discover the hidden network of fungi and their role in the cycle of nature.

Through mycelium forest walks with Kassel citizens and experts in surrounding forest areas, natural cycles are made visible through observation. The role of fungi as decomposers and creators of new life in these cycles is conveyed and reflected upon. They are the decomposers of this world and create new life from death: without them, the world would be a huge pile of garbage. Fungi inspire through their collaborative, holistic, networked, adaptive and pro-active work - which brings with it potential for the creation of fair and circular models of cooperation. The focus is on topics such as the role of fungi in the material cycle, how fungi enable new life through decomposition, diversity and specialization, mycelium as a communication network, cooperative strategies.
