Impulses for your own artistic work

Student Gahee Nam sold one of her exhibited works during this year's Rundgang of the Kunsthochschule Kassel (July 18-21).

Gahee Nam from Prof. Johannes Spehr's painting class sold one of her exhibited works during the annual exhibition. Dr. Gitta Langer (Nordwestdeutsche Forstliche Versuchsanstalt) and Prof. Dr. Ewald Langer (University of Kassel) purchased a large-format oil painting by the student. The work entitled "Zersplitterte Tiefe" is a further development of two previous works by the artist, which deal with human existence.

Every year at the end of the summer semester in July, the Kunsthochschule Kassel opens its workspaces for the traditional final presentation of current works. During the Rundgang-day event, visitors can find out about the artistic and creative work from the fields of visual arts, visual communication, product design, art teaching and art history and aesthetics. In addition to these insights into the art academy's education, visitors also have the opportunity to purchase the students' work. The exhibiting students, including Gahee Nam, are positive about the keen interest shown by visitors to the exhibition: "I am very pleased that the effort I put into my work during my studies has been recognized through the purchase of my work," emphasizes the art student. This motivates her to work more intensively on her artistic practice and at the same time to overcome the self-doubt that sometimes arises during her studies.

Before the Rundgang, Nam exhibited together with her fellow students (BRONCOS from 05.07.-04.08.24) at the Kunstverein Familie Montez in Frankfurt am Main. These collaborations are essential: "It is often difficult for us students to show our own work to a wide audience. Exchanging ideas with people interested in art is also important in order to gain new impetus for your own artistic work," explains Nam. The exhibition in Frankfurt gave the students the opportunity to work together with an association in an institutional context and to professionalize their own art practice. They sharpened their soft skills, which are necessary for the success of an exhibition, such as self-organization, communication, scheduling, stress management and flexibility.

Since Nam, who comes from South Korea, sold her oil painting in the summer, she has been looking ahead with more confidence and is working on realizing future exhibition collaborations. A small selection of her works can currently be seen at the Stadtcafé Kassel in Obere Königsstraße 41.
