City awards scholarships for young artists for the first time
The five scholarships for young artists from Kassel go to Vreneli Harborth for the field of “Visual Arts”, Gabriela Apollo dos Santos Branco for the field of “Performing Arts”, Melanie Lüdke for Literature/Visual Arts, Lenz Domingo Faas for Music and Yannick Stark for the field of “Film and Media”.
A seven‐member expert jury has selected the five young artists from Kassel for the scholarships for young artists, which will be announced for the first time in 2024. A total of over 60 applications from the fields of fine arts, performing arts, literature, music, film and media were received for the five scholarships to be awarded.
The scholarship holders will receive a monthly salary of 1,300 euros over the next six months, as well as mentoring from a local expert from the cultural sector. The scholarships are intended to promote the artistic development of young artists and facilitate the transition into working life. Artists from all disciplines who live in Kassel, are no older than 35 and have completed their studies at a professionally qualified institution no more than three years ago, were eligible to apply.
The scholarships will begin in the fall. In a final presentation in spring 2025, the selected scholarship recipients will provide an insight into the projects they are pursuing with the help of the scholarship.
