On Wednesday, June 26 at 6 p.m., students of the Kunsthochschule Kassel will welcome the visual artist Graciela Carnevale in the Hörsaal of the Kunsthochschule Kassel.
Graciela Carnevale is one of the most important representatives of the Argentinian avant-garde art scene of the 1960s. Her work is located at the interface between investigative art and politics.
As a member of the Grupo de Artistas de Vanguardia, she was part of the Ciclo de Arte Experimental and Tucumán Arde, both artists' initiatives with a radical practice that explored the disruptive possibilities of art. She was later involved in the visionary educational project Escuela de Arte de la Universidad Popular Constancio C. Vigil. In recent decades, she has also initiated several art projects with local communities in her hometown of Rosario. Carnevale's archive was exhibited at documenta 12.
Her artistic work in the past, her artistic and pedagogical practice in different social groups and the various projects she has contributed to have always been linked to the recognition of the role of art in society. Carnevale is still a point of reference for the younger generation of artists today.
This event is part of the ongoing seminar "Narratives in Context" of the class Multidimensional Strategies in collaboration with Katja Kottmann from the Foundation Class Visual Arts.
The discussion will be moderated by students and Professor Cecilia Vallejos and, as always, is open to all interested parties.
