Awards, prizes, scholarships 2024

Maximilian Graf (Visual Arts, Schmidt Class) and Lea Rist (Class for Intermedial Photography, Prof. Peggy Buth) have been awarded the 2024 Exam Prize by the cdw Foundation and the Kunsthochschule Kassel. The prize is endowed with 4,000 euros each.

Scholarship holders of the IKEA Foundation 2024 are the product design students: Djouhara Aw Ahmed, Annika Joachim, Zion Victoria Junge, Yige Chen, Milan Stein, Antonia Ludwig, Emily Jean Bowe, Philip Scholz.

Katharina Jaeger (Class for Intermedial Photography, Prof. Peggy Buth) wins the gold medal with her publication “Die Schwerkraft des Kinderwunsches” in category 12 “Illustrated book photographic thesis”.

Husein Bastouni (animation class) wins Golden Hercules (41st Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival 2024). The prize is sponsored by Qoncept Energy GmbH.

Leonard Volkmer (Intermedia Photography class) wins the Goldene Taube in the German Documentary Competition of DOK Leipzig - International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film for „Der König von Spanien“.

Tianshu Yang and Xiaoxuan Yu's film “Starren” (animation class) has won the Hessian Film and Cinema Award 2024 in the “Best Short Film” category.

Lara Rohde (animation class) was presented with the DIVR Science Award 2024 in the “Psychology and Health” category for her final project “Planet Puberty”.

Julie Matthées (Visual Communication) is taking part in a residency program at the Filmhaus Basel.

Lena Hellmann (Product Design) received an award for her diploma project “TAG” at the German Design Graduates Awards 2024.

The scholarships for young artists from the city of Kassel go to: Vreneli Harborth for “Visual Arts”, Gabriela Apollo dos Santos Branco for “Performing Arts”, Melanie Lüdtke for Literature/Visual Arts, Yannick Stark for “Film and Media”.

Prizes for the Rundgang of the Kunsthochschule Kassel:
Performance class by Mounira Al Solh for the overall concept of the class exhibition (SV SparkassenVersicherung, 1,250 euros), “K-BOB-Star” by Hansol Kim (SV SparkassenVersicherung, 1,250 euros), “Philok” by Saskia Masannek (Birgitt Bolsmann Prize, 1,100 euros), “Hexenflug” by Janna Kim Rühl (Prize of the staff of the Kunsthochschule Kassel, 1,000 euros).

Abetare Prenici is a scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes.

Lis Walter receives the Scenario Award of the Fumetto Comic Festival for their comic "Pounded".

Steph Joyce will receive 18,000 euros from HessenFilm und Medien ("Special Graduation Film") for the realization of her short film "Meet me at the Sargasso Sea".

The founding teams „Games for Positive Change" (Robin Vehrs, Nico Fiona Brauer, Christoph Schnerr, Hannes Drescher), „So.pla" (Johannes Kastner, Philipp Glowacki, Simon Josenhans) and „WOLLWOHL" (Fabienne Rako, Johannes Choe, Lennart Trümper) are being supported with Hessen Ideas Scholarships.
