Professorship for Sound

Mario de Vega (Mexico City, 1979. Lives and works in Berlin and Mexico City). His work explores the limits of audible perception, and interrelations between energy fields and induced situations, evoking listening settings whether the ear still listening, or only believes to listen. For this he uses pyrotechnics, electronic interfaces, sonic imprints, architectonic interventions, and sculptural results produced with detritus of actions. 

He has been guest artist and lecturer at Universität der Künste Berlin, Rijksakademie Amsterdam, Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt, Technische Universität Berlin, Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Paris, Centro de Diseño, Cine y Televisión, Kyushu University, Tama Art University, écal, Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien and Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center, among others. De Vega´s work has been exhibited across Europe, Mexico, North America, South Africa, China, India, Chile, South Korea, Russia and Japan.
