Mounira Al Solh exhibits in the Lebanese Pavilion at the Biennale
For the 60th International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia - the Lebanese pavilion has invited artist Mounira Al Solh to build a bridge between ancient myth and reality. Her installation A Dance with her Myth focuses on the abduction of the Phoenician princess Europa by the god Zeus, who took the form of a white bull. The myth is re-examined by the artist using contemporary artistic and visual means and sheds light on the problems and challenges facing women today. The catalog contains several texts that facilitate the understanding of this monumental installation consisting of forty-one parts.
The 180 square meter exhibition will be on view at the Arsenale from April 20 to November 24, 2024.
Mounira Al Solh is Professor of Performance, Installation and Media at the Kunsthochschule Kassel.
