Archive work nationwide
The research project on the history of the Kunsthochschule Kassel, led by Prof. Kai-Uwe Hemken, is currently intensifying its research on the topic of "Stage at the Academy". Tabea Brinkmann, Laura Baumbach and Kai-Uwe Hemken visited the Theater Museum in Düsseldorf. With the support of archivist Sigrid Arnold, the research team looked through the estates of Teo Otto (born 1904) and Ewald Dülberg (born 1888), two of the most internationally renowned stage designers of the 20th century. Otto studied painting and sculpture in Kassel from 1923 to 1926. Dülberg was professor of graphics and weaving in Kassel from 1921 to 1926.
Prof. Hemken's project team has been visiting archives throughout Germany for months in order to examine historical sources on various topics, such as the history of the Kunsthochschule.
