Introduction to work-related consulting for the occupational field of design

Work-related consulting, offers such as executive coaching, team supervision or also the accompaniment of changes in organizations, is part of ensuring the quality of work in many professional fields. In addition, many organizations also have internal personnel development offerings. In times of a shortage of skilled workers, it is important to retain employees and provide them with further training. Time, energy and resources are put into thinking about how to improve the overall circumstances of the employees.

In the professional field of design, but also in other professions in the arts, culture and creative industries, there are repeated reports of unsatisfactory working conditions and precarious situations for employees. So what does a good job in the professional field entail? What special challenges are there in employment relationships and in self-employment? And what can one do oneself to meet these challenges? How can working relationships with clients be shaped proactively? How can states of exhaustion be prevented? How can good teamwork be achieved? How are conflicts handled? And how can a professional working attitude be integrated into teaching at art colleges or other training institutes?

In her qualification work, Milena Albiez deals with the transfer of work-based counseling to the professional field of design. Albiez taught and researched editorial design at the Kunsthochschule Kassel from 2017 to 2022. In addition, she studied the part-time master's program 'Multidimensional Organizational Consulting, Supervision and Coaching' at the University of Kassel from 2016 to 2019. In her work as a consultant in the world of work, Milena Albiez accompanies individuals, managers, teams and organizations in reflecting on their own professional role or collaboration, among other things. In addition, she accompanies changes of all kinds and also uses this perspective in assignments in the field of design.

The event will clarify the added value of consultative design and what memes and "designershumor" have to do with the above-mentioned questions. The event is divided into a 20-minute lecture and a subsequent colloquium.

Open to all courses of study. All members of the Kunsthochschule Kassel are cordially invited.
