Marije Vogelzang is a pioneering designer, speaker, and author with a long-standing focus on food design. Since 1999, while still a student, she began exploring the relationship between food and design, eventually graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2000. Between 2004 and 2011, she ran two experimental restaurants in Rotterdam and Amsterdam alongside her design work, further deepening her practice.
Over the years, Marije’s work has been featured in exhibitions around the world, including at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian in New York. She regularly speaks on international stages, where she explores the intersection of food, creativity, and human experience. Her thought-provoking presentations invite audiences to rethink conventional approaches to nourishment and how it shapes our lives.
Marije also spent eight years leading the "Food Non Food Department" at Design Academy Eindhoven, mentoring a new generation of designers with her expertise and vision. She is a professor at the master studies of UNISG in Pollenzo and part of the advisory board at Die Angewandte in Vienna.
In addition to her design and speaking engagements, Marije is the author of *Lick It: Challenge the Way We Experience Food*. In this book, she encourages readers to re-examine their relationship with food through sensory exploration and creativity.
Her innovative contributions to the field of food design have earned her international recognition, including the International Food Design Honorary Award for her pioneering work over the past 25 years.
