After qualifying examinations and military service, Ulrich Scholz trained in carpentry and worked as a journeyman carpenter before starting his studies in product design. He successfully completed these studies and went on to work initially as a freelance industry designer. This was followed by his appointment as a teacher for special tasks at the Gesamthochschule Kassel (as the Kunsthochschule Kassel was called at the time) and with several years of continuous training in metalworking techniques.
Since about 20 years Ulrich Scholz has worked as director of the “Metalworking Workshop” at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. Through his many years of practical experience, he expanded his work to directing the “Plastic Workshop” as well as to offering “technology” seminars for product design students.
