Anna-Lisa Scherfose graduated in Curatorial Studies (M.A.) from Goethe University and Städelschule in Frankfurt a.M. and studied Art History and Aesthetics and Sociology at the University/Kunsthochschule Kassel and Gothenburg University, SE.
Anna-Lisa Scherfose worked as studio manager for the artist Simon Denny (2014–2018), where she gained experience in the conception and realization of projects in institutions worldwide, including Serpentine Gallery London UK, OCAT Shenzhen CN, Moderna Museet Stockholm SE and the Berlin Biennale.
From 2019 to 2022 she was on the selection committee of the exhibition Monitoring of the Kassel Film and Documentary Festival. Since 2017 she has been Managing Director of the artist mentoring program BPA// Berlin program for artists, including its associated exhibition space and studio complex.
She is currently a research associate in the Department of Art History and Aesthetics at the Kunsthochschule Kassel where she organizes the Transdisciplinary Center for Exhibition Studies (TRACES). Her dissertation project focuses on artistic organizations in the 1990s and early 2000s who used the young internet to develop and build new infrastructures for collaboration.
