Valeria Santagati-Juraschek, born in 1987, is a product designer based in Kassel.
After her design studies focusing on art and design history at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, she continued her studied to further her practical and design capabilities at the Kunsthochschule Kassel.
Since her graduation in 2015 she has worked as a designer with her studio Designandresearch. There she developed a series of dishes for Gepa The Fair Trade Company. Valeria Santagati is interested not only in the product itself, but above all also in the production processes behind it and their effects on the design and the environment. For this reason she often sets out in new directions to expand the possibilities in proposal and application or to make the production or the product more sustainable. One example of this is the insulating bag Isolda, which was nominated for the German design Prize in 2014, for which the insulant Isoflow was introduced into a new context in an innovative way. Pursuing this interest she has been working for a variety of firms and institutions since 2014. She works to functionalize concrete and to develop new materials and production processes.
