Özdemir, Çiğdem

Head of Press and Public Relations

Since 2016 Çiğdem Özdemir has been responsible for the Press Office at the Kunsthochschule Kassel as spokesperson and Head of Public Relations.

She completed her master’s degree at Bielefeld University in historiography, the history of gender, and German Studies. Her main areas of study were modern history, feminist history of law, and intercultural communication. During her studies she worked as a student project assistant (press and public relations) for the Competence Center Technology-Diversity-Equal Opportunities e. V.

After her studies Çiğdem Özdemir worked in a variety of functions – both in education as well as media – in the areas of press and public relations as well as in project management. In addition, she worked to support measures for internationalizing German universities. At Bielefeld University she directed the project “Internationale Absolventinnen” (International Women Graduates) with the goal of promoting the academic success of international women students. She was also responsible for communication workshops for international students on behalf of the Central Student Advisory Committee (Bielefeld University).

She worked as a freelance journalist in the local editorial office of the Neue Westfälische in Bielefeld.

Recently Özdemir has worked for TransMIT Society for Technology Transfer (Gießen) in the Academy division as a project manager for nationwide conferences, and was also responsible for academic marketing.

From 2019 to 2021 Çiğdem Özdemir took part in the Kasseler Führungskolleg [Kassel Leadership College] with a qualification program for management staff from academia and administration at the middle management level at the University of Kassel.

Since 2025 Özdemir has been an advisory member of the Zentrum für Kreativwirtschaft (ZfKW-Center for Creative Economy) Kassel.
