Joel Baumann is Professor for New Media at the Kunsthochschule in Kassel and director of the creative collective tomato, London. He studied Contemporary Media Practise (BA) und Hypermedia (MA) at the University of Westminster in London, UK.
In his work, Joel Baumann concentrates on the interactive moment, the strategic possibilities in using digital media, and the influence of new media on social forms and communication. His works have been used in the context of media exhibitions and in the applied areas of branding and advertising. His clients include Sony, Mitsubishi Motors, AOL, Sharp, Nokia, and Redbull. His works have recently been exhibited at the Kasseler Kunstverein, at the European Media Arts Festival (Osnabrück), and at the Pavlov MediaLab in Groningen.
