The collective Los Explayados (Cuenca, Spain. 2017), formed by Ignacio Casero Lucas, Nacho Martín Encinas and Adrián Mena, was born from the need of its members to approach artistic research through a physical practice based on the plastic arts. From different perspectives (sensory, literary and humorous) the project aims to stress the nexus between artistic and academic research.
The common thread of this exhibition is the idea of presence, understood as the process of conversion of painting from a material register to an entity of its own. This process of revealing what exists arises in the act of painting, it is a practice.
The exhibition gathers a dialogue of different perspectives of this process. On the one hand, from a contemplative and sensory perspective, on the other hand, from the metaphorical and literary, and a third from everyday living and humour. At the same time, these perspectives are articulated from different approaches, one more focused on the poetic and the emotionality of color, another starting from the form and literary reminiscences and the third through the line and the formal structure.
