Dr. Marjan Sharifi: Ecstatic moments of awe, creativity, mind wandering and empathy.
To open the eXtase Rundgang week, in this lecture and workshop we explore our consciousness and what it means to be zoomed in vs. zoomed out - caught in our self-referential states and egocentricity vs. moments of awe and interconnectivity. We will explore how awe can be viewed as an ecstatic experience and can mediate our ability to feel empathy for others and offer new perspectives of engaging with our conscious experiences, such as when we mind wander. Artificial Intelligence as a spiritual guide and sensitizing ourselves to different ways of being in the world through opening up our perceptual engagements will also be explored. After a presentation and general introduction, the session will be continued in the nearby park inviting nature to contextualize our discussions on awe and the beyond.
