NB Spiders

Artistic Associate | Games

NB Spiders (they/them) is the Artistic Associate of the Games Department. They are a performer, electronics artist and game engineer whose research focuses on queer forms of play and crip empowerment.

In their postgraduate research project, The Graveyard of Electronic Desires, they engaged with the concept of yearnings as an intervention in binary computer logic and dominant understandings of electronic processes.

Spiders is co-founder and CTO of riprip, a videogame label that has presented their work at Gamescom, A MAZE. / Berlin and the Snail Eye Festival in Leipzig. They are the co-lead developer of the game engine wareware.

In addition, they are a community organizer active in local drag and other trans*queer communities, as well as in the electronic music scene, being co-organizer of the RANGE Sound Festival.

They have published in Crip Magazine, and their works have been performed and presented at the IndieCade Festival Paris, Different Games Conference at the NYU Polytechnic Institute, CAA ART MUSEUM in Hangzhou, the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester and at the UCLA Game Art Festival in the 18+ section.
