Prof. Rebecca Stephany is featured in the exhibition On Display: How Graphic Design Shapes Us(21 August to 8 November 2026) at the Museum of Applied Arts in Frankfurt am Main.
The exhibition focuses on the social dimension of graphic design and the question of how design influences our perception, our knowledge and our actions. Also featured is Rebecca Stephany, Professor of Graphic Design at the Kunsthochschule Kassel, who, together with Anja Kaiser, presents one of the design perspectives featured in the exhibition.
Graphic design is omnipresent. Food packaging, digital interfaces, advertising spaces, wayfinding systems in public spaces – everything in the media that surrounds us is graphically designed and geared towards making an impact. In this way, graphic design shapes how we perceive, understand, feel and act – often without us even realising it. On Display: How Graphic Design Shapes Us explores the social dimension of graphic design and examines its power to influence in times of political, technological and social upheaval.
The exhibition explores this social dimension of design. It focuses on various design approaches, including the work of Rebecca Stephany, Professor of Graphic Design at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. Together with Anja Kaiser, her work is presented as an example of how graphic design not only makes content visible, but is itself involved in the construction of perception and meaning.
Curated by Dr Jonas Deuter, the exhibition thus explores the influence of design in an era characterised by political, technological and social upheaval: What images and information reach us? How are they organised, evaluated and communicated? And what conceptions of the world arise from the way in which content is designed and presented?
The exhibition opens on 20 August 2026 at 7 pm. For further information, please visit the link:
