An exhibition in collaboration with the design studio Gebert & Krüger. Prof. Jakob Gebert teaches on the Furniture Design / Exhibition Design at the Kassel Art Academy.
BETWEEN FORMS explores the dynamic interplay between word and image, between the illustrations and traditional narratives. It reveals how fairy-tale images and their meanings change, and how cultural influences, hierarchies and the ongoing appropriation of stories are inscribed within them. In this way, Helga Gebert’s work offers new perspectives on contemporary forms of storytelling.
Moments from her biography, formative impressions from her life, her sources of inspiration, and examples of her political and social engagement offer insights into the artist’s world. Opportunities for interaction, a treasure hunt for children and an exhibition catalogue explore the themes of the exhibition in greater depth.
