The German Multimedia Award mb21 is the only nationwide competition that honors the digital works and projects of children, teenagers and young adults. Since it was founded in 1998, it has developed into one of the most important forums for digital media culture in Germany. Over 25,000 participants have taken part in the competition since then, and around 3,500 guests attend the media festival in Dresden every year, where the best submissions are presented and awarded cash prizes worth a total of 11,000 euros.
