Teaching Staff for Special Tasks | Illustration und Comics

Sascha Hommer’s comic stories can be categorized into different narrative genres, for instance magical realism, autobiography, literary adaptation, travelogues, or fantasy fiction. What all of his artistic works have in common is the search for new aesthetic and narrative formats. Since 2006 he has published eight books with the Berlin publisher Reprodukt, most recently the literary adaptation “Das kalte Herz” (The Cold Heart, 2024). In applied projects, his focus is on transferring knowledge and documentary narration for children and adults.

The co-founder and organizer of the Comicfestival Hamburg, which has been running since 2006, is also active in numerous other contexts apart from his artistic work, including as illustrator, curator, publisher, editor, and educator. From 2016 to 2025 he was a lecturer at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.
