Director Typography Workshop

Jan Blessing is a graphic designer with a focus on typography, book design, and printing production. He studied book art and graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig as well as media publishing at the Stuttgart Media University. In addition, he a trained offset printer.

Together with Constanze Hein and Felix Walser he founded and directs the design studio Book Book. In addition he has worked as a senior graphic design at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London and has directed the graphic design and production department at the publisher Gestalten as well as at DCV Books.

His work runs along the interface of design and production, with a special focus on the future of offset printing as an analog and digital medium for designers and artists. He is particularly involved in the rediscovery of Office Offset printing and its transformation into an experimental design field.

Alongside his creative work he regularly teaches at various universities and art schools and gives workshops on typography and printing techniques. In addition he gives lectures on topics related to book design and production as a design language. His work has been exhibited internationally, including in Antwerp, London, Tokyo, and Vienna.
