A poster by designer Thomas Kühnen has been included in the selection of the 100 best typographic works worldwide.
The renowned Society of Typographic Arts in Chicago annually honours one hundred works for their outstanding typographic quality in the international STA100 competition. The 2026 edition of the STA100 also featured a poster by designer Thomas Kühnen, who has headed the screen printing workshop at the Kunsthochschule Kassel since 2025.
The award went to the promotional poster for a “workshop discussion” with the artist and printer Thomas Siemon. A graduate of the Kunsthochschule Kassel, Siemon is internationally renowned for his printmaking work on historic presses at edition carpe plumbum. His works have been created in collaboration with, amongst others, Lubok Verlag and the artist collective Print Jam.
For Thomas Kühnen, this is already his fifth award in the STA100 competition. All the winning entries can be viewed on the STA100 Competition website.
The series of workshop talks, which has been running since 2018, was initiated by Thomas Kühnen and will continue in future at the Kunsthochschule Kassel.
