The Probonio Arena in Kassel now boasts a new glass façade designed by Kseniia Gagnidze.

In April 2026, students from the Comic and Illustration and Graphic Design courses at the Kassel Academy of Fine Arts developed concepts as part of a design competition for the new glass façade at the south entrance to the ice rink. Under the motto ‘One place. Everything live.’ the students were invited to submit designs for the glass surface, which is over 11 metres high. A panel of experts assessed the submitted entries from various perspectives relating to art, the public and the brand. The aim of this collaborative project is to strengthen the connection between regional sport, culture and the local art scene in the long term.

From the submissions, the works by Kseniia Gagnidze, Lis Walter and Marie-Luise Fichtner were awarded prizes. Kseniia Gagnidze’s design was awarded first prize and prize money of 3,000 euros. Following the official unveiling on 14 June 2026, her work will now be on display for the next three years on the glass façade at the south entrance to the Probonio Arena.
