With the event series ‘MAKE ART WORK – Inspiration for Professional Practice’, the Centre for Creative Industries in Kassel (ZfKW) and the Kassel Art Academy invite artists, designers and other creative professionals to explore key issues relating to professional practice. Experts from the cultural and creative industries will share insights, experiences and practical recommendations.

Speakers include, amongst others, Timo Kappeller (gallery owner, New York), Jan Käpernick (Künstler für Künstler), Robot Koch (musician, producer, composer), Frauke Schnoor (ZEIT Campus), Matthias Hornschuh (Initiative Urheberrecht) and Tobias Wüstefeld (KI Taskforce Illustratoren Organisation e.V.).

The series kicks off on 28 October 2026 at 5 pm with the event ‘The art market – what is it?’. Six further sessions will follow through to December, covering topics such as social security, funding, visibility and personal branding. The 90-minute sessions are aimed in particular at students, graduates and creative professionals. They will take place alternately at the ZfKW (Wolfsschlucht 18a) and at WH22 (Werner-Hilpert-Straße 22) and provide an opportunity for questions, discussion and networking.

The closing panel on 11 December 26 at 5 pm in the documenta Hall forms part of the Kassel Art Academy’s final-year exhibition (9–13 December 26). Moderated by Britta Wagemann (RAAMWERK e.V.), the sessions will focus on career paths, sustainable professional practice, copyright, advocacy and the impact of artificial intelligence on creative professions.

Attendance is free of charge and open to all interested parties. The series is organised by the ZfKW and the Kassel Art Academy in cooperation, and supported by the cdw Foundation.
