Joscha Tschammer, a graduate of the Kunsthochschule Kassel, received an award for his final-year project in the nationwide ideas competition organised by the SKZ Plastics Centre. His design for a corner shelf made from recycled textiles impressed the jury with its successful combination of functionality, timeless design and high feasibility.

Tschammer’s design particularly impressed the jury with its combination of practical function, high feasibility and timeless design. As a special mark of recognition, the SKZ produced a prototype of the design and presented the finished product at the awards ceremony in Würzburg in May 2026.

About the ideas competition: 3D-printed plastic components made from end-of-life textiles
The SKZ had already issued a call for entries for the competition back in mid-2025. The competition was part of a research project funded by the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). The task was to develop an idea for a plastic component made from recycled textile plastics, for example for production via 3D printing.

Entries were to consist of a sketch (DIN A4) and a brief description of the component. The focus was on creative, everyday solutions that are both technically feasible and convincing in terms of design, utility, sustainability and economic potential.
