Turning Pages is a comic festival in Kassel, organised for the first time this year by the Association for Graphic Narrative on 2 and 3 May and taking place at the Hugenottenhaus. Through exhibitions, workshops, readings, talks and a small sales fair, we aim to make the diversity of the local graphic narrative scene accessible to a wider public.
Kassel is a place where many talented comic writers and artists live and work. The festival aims to establish itself as an annual event that focuses on the diversity of the local scene, particularly the indie scene and self-publishing. We aim to consciously counter outdated categorisations, such as the contrast between comics and manga. Instead, we see ourselves as part of a young cultural network in Kassel that we wish to actively strengthen. Together with other stakeholders such as the Rotopol publishing house, the risograph workshop Misprints and the Kunsthochschule Kassel, we provide a platform for regional perspectives and diverse viewpoints.
