How does the art market work – and how can I, as an artist, gain a foothold in it? Timo Kappeller offers insights into the structures and mechanisms of the international art market. Drawing on his experience working for galleries in Berlin and New York, he explains how galleries select artists, collaborate with them and develop their artistic profiles. He also offers insights into the planning and realisation of international exhibitions such as ‘The Campus’ in Upstate New York.
Timo Kappeller is a curator and art dealer and lives in New York. His career began at documenta in Kassel and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin. Today, creative professionals face a wide range of challenges, ranging from artistic practice and self-employment to visibility and new technologies. Experts from various sectors of the cultural and creative industries will share their experiences, provide insights into their fields of work and impart practical knowledge on topics such as self-employment, visibility, funding, the art market, copyright and artificial intelligence. As well as providing specialist insights, the series offers opportunities for questions, discussion and networking.
