Monitoring – Exhibition of media installations.
As part of the 43rd Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival, the annual Monitoring – Exhibition of Media Installations will open in Kassel on 18 November 2026.
Curated by an eight-member selection committee from around 225 recent submissions, the exhibition once again shines a spotlight on the present and asks: has exhaustion become a collective experience, or even the status quo? Recent headlines would suggest so. Climate fatigue, crisis fatigue, news fatigue – in a year of tipping points, the 14 media installations under the title *Freaking Caring Tired Still* cannot hide the fact that a sense of impending collapse is driving the zeitgeist. But they also demonstrate that whilst fatigue may be contagious, commitment, care and a genuine interest in humanity are even more so.
