The reading will focus on the comic project ‘METEORITE FALLS’, which was created in collaboration between the Kunsthochschule Kassel and the independent publisher Rotopol.
Meteorites are a surprisingly topical subject: in the first half of 2026, an above-average number of sightings were reported. The cause of this spate remains unexplained to this day. What is beyond dispute, however, is that these visitors from space have been with us since time immemorial. Different cultures have observed, interpreted and recounted their appearances in a variety of ways.
Over the course of two semesters, students from the Illustration/Comics department at the Kunsthochschule Kassel, under the guidance of comic artist Sascha Hommer, engaged intensively with the book *A Brief History of Meteorite Falls*. In it, the artist Regine Petersen has compiled accounts of meteorite discoveries dating from well before the start of our calendar to the present day.
The artistic perspectives in this publication are as multifaceted as the historical accounts themselves. It shines a spotlight on a new generation of young artists from Kassel and brings together an impressive range of drawing styles and narrative approaches.
