The Hessische Kulturstiftung awards residency and travel grants to visual artists. The funding is aimed at artists who live in Hesse, were born there, or have studied at an art college in Hesse.

For the years 2027 and 2028, the Foundation is awarding a total of 5 open travel grants (minimum 3 to maximum 12 months), 7 residency grants (New York City, London, Paris: 12 months; Istanbul: 6 months) and, for the first time, 2 combined residency and travel grants (residency at the Goethe-Institut Villa Kamogawa in Kyoto: 3 months, followed by an individual travel and work period in Japan: 3 months).

The application portal for the travel and residency grants will open on 1 August 2026. The application deadline is 15 October 2026 at 23:59 (CET – Central European Time).
