Christmas Card 2026: The Chief Minister’s Creative Competition

To mark the 80th anniversary of the State of Hesse, Minister-President Boris Rhein is inviting Hesse’s students, for the first time, to design the motif for his Christmas card. He is looking for creative ideas that lend the occasion a unique artistic perspective.

The competition is open to students at all stages of their studies in the fields of fine art, art education, art for teacher training, and all design courses, including communication design, graphic design and media design. To be eligible, participants must be enrolled at a Hessian higher education institution at the time of submission. A current proof of enrolment must be enclosed with the submission.

There are no limits to artistic expression. The design may be classical or modern, representational or abstract, and does not need to have a Christmas theme. It is important that the design is ideally suited for printing on a landscape-format greeting card (B6 size).

Closing date for entries: 27 October 2026
