Submissions of short films, screenplay ideas and music videos for the Federal Festival of Young Film are now open once again. The upcoming edition of the festival will take place from 9 to 13 June 2027 in St. Ingbert, Saarland. The deadline for submissions to all competitions is 1 February 2027.

In addition to short films, the organisers are also seeking innovative screenplay concepts for the ‘junger Pitch’ story development competition, as well as creative music videos for the ‘junger Clip’ competition. For the ‘Schräge Filme’ competition, horror, trash and genre films may be submitted, as well as films intended to be taken with a pinch of salt. Directors aged 21 and under may submit their short films for the Newcomer Competition.

The following applies to all competitions: only productions completed after 1 January 2025 may be submitted. Submissions must be made via the Federal Festival of Young Film portal. Films must not exceed 30 minutes in length (5 minutes for music videos) – and the director must not be older than 30 (in the Newcomer Competition: not older than 21). The date of submission is decisive.
